Jenn, when I was little my mother would rinse our hair with straight vinegar "to make it shiny" (a little "stingie" on the backside, but I had very shiny hair!) I have done that occasionally ever since, so this is great to know!. I think perhaps I will give this a shot, sounds brilliant...thanks.

Yea. They pretty much said the same thing about cigarettes for years. They changed that one, didn't they? The bigger issue is the waste, not the "possibility" of styrene being a human carcinogen.

Everyday exposure to styrene has not been proven to be harmful; no authoritative or regulatory body anywhere in the world considers styrene to be a known cause of human cancer. In fact, polystyrene food-service containers and utensils have been used safely for more than 50 years. They have been tested extensively and deemed safe by reputable government agencies. Moreover, styrene it is not an endocrine disruptor. The National Toxicology Program determined that styrene is of "negligible concern" for effects on human development and reproduction in 2006. Long-term health data has also indicated that workers exposed to relatively high levels of styrene show inconsistent, null, or negative findings linking styrene to serious health effects.

SIRC (www.styrene.org) is a trade association that represents interests of the North American styrene industry with its mission being the collection, development, analysis and communication of pertinent information on styrene.

Do you think maybe it all started way back when Jesus cursed that fig tree?

I really, really hate the argument (which I have heard several times before, believe it or not) that goes something like, "Well, God gave us the Earth, so we can do what we want with it."

Hmmm... where to start...

I love my cloth napkins! And my cleaning rags... also known as "dog towels" because before Buck I was mostly cleaning up after the dogs... but now Buck makes more messes... :)
I like the napkin ring idea.
Also, when you line-dry, the sun will take out most any stains the washer leaves behind!

ps how's the chickens?
